Skilled trades jobs: get matched on the work you actually do

If you are searching for skilled trades jobs, you already know the problem. You can do the work, and a CV does not show it. A technician who has kept a production line running for eleven years gets screened out by a filter looking for a phrase. A driver with a clean record and ten years behind the wheel competes with strangers for the same warehouse shift. VVeRecruit matches you on the tasks you do, and it is free for job seekers. Create your free profile and tell us what you can do.

This page is for electricians, fitters, welders, machine and CNC operators, technicians, mechanics, drivers, warehouse and logistics workers, and other hourly and skilled frontline workers, in any country where we list jobs.

Why do good tradespeople lose out in job searches?

Because most job sites ask you to describe a trade in a paragraph of keywords, and then a filter checks whether you used the same words as the advert. A CNC operator who writes "VMC operator" misses a listing for "CNC machinist". A forklift driver without the right certificate wording gets dropped before a supervisor sees a name.

The other issue is reach. Plenty of good trade work is hired through supervisors, contractors and word of mouth, and never reaches the people who need it. If you are working a shift and also hunting for the next job on a phone, you need a short route from "I can do this" to "someone is calling me".

How matching works for skilled and hourly roles

Every role on the platform is broken into plain tasks, such as "set up and run a milling machine", "load and secure a trailer", "read a wiring diagram" or "pick and pack orders at speed". You rate yourself on those same tasks: never used, have knowledge, used rarely, used daily.

That puts what you do every day in front of the people hiring, using the words they use. You do not have to write a polished CV. Employers see how closely your ratings match a role, and you can apply directly. Where recruiter-led hiring is open, currently India and the UK, a recruiter can also put you forward. Your name stays masked from the employer until an interview is booked.

Where recruiter-led hiring is open, a recruiter working the role is paid when you join, so their interest is in a good match that lasts. They will tell you about the shift pattern, the site and the pay before you commit your time.

Which skilled trades and frontline jobs can you look for?

The names differ by country, so a role in one market can sit under a different title in another. Common groups include:

  • Manufacturing and engineering: machine operator, CNC operator, fitter, welder, maintenance technician, quality inspector, production supervisor.
  • Construction and building services: electrician, plumber, carpenter, HVAC technician, site supervisor.
  • Transport and logistics: delivery driver, HGV or heavy goods driver, truck driver, forklift operator, warehouse operative, store keeper.
  • Automotive: auto technician, mechanic, body repair, service advisor.
  • Healthcare and facilities support: medical courier, orderly, cleaner, security, caretaker.

Browse by role or industry to see what is listed in your country, then complete your profile so employers can see how well you match.

What should a skilled trades profile include?

Keep it practical. A short profile that is accurate beats a long one that is padded.

Your trade and level. Apprentice, operator, technician, supervisor. Say which one you are today.

Machines, tools and systems. The equipment you have run, the standards you work to, the software or controllers you have used.

Licences and tickets. Driving licence class, forklift or crane certificates, electrical or gas qualifications, safety cards. Keep the numbers and expiry dates to hand. Requirements differ by country, so the exact name of a licence changes between markets.

Shifts and location. Whether you can work nights or weekends, how far you will travel, and whether you would relocate.

Task ratings. Be honest. A supervisor asking about something you rated "used daily" will test it, and an accurate rating gets you into jobs you will not struggle in.

Is it free? Who sees my details?

It is free for job seekers, always. You do not pay to build a profile, to be matched, or to accept a job, and no one on the platform should ask you for money in return for work. The hiring company pays when someone joins. If an agent outside the platform asks you for a fee to arrange a job, be careful.

Your identity is masked from employers until an interview is scheduled. If you are still employed, you can switch on OPEN2WORK so that only recruiters working a role that fits you can see you are open. No company can browse candidate profiles, so your current employer will not find you by searching.

How do you find work near you, on shifts, or part time?

Say what you need on the profile: location, shift pattern, part-time or full-time, and whether you will travel. Roles with those terms in the listing will match you better.

Search the country job pages for your area to see what is on offer. Many frontline roles ask for people ready to start soon, so keep your phone number current and answer a recruiter's message quickly. A recruiter often has several candidates for a role, and the first good reply tends to win the interview.

If you are looking for temporary or seasonal work, mention that in your preferences. Contract staffing is available only in some countries, and recruiter-led matching is added market by market as local rules allow.

What to expect from the first call

A recruiter will usually phone or message to confirm the basics: what you do, which licences you hold, when you can start and what pay you are looking for. Have those answers ready. They will also describe the site, the shift pattern and how the pay is structured, so you can decide before you give up an afternoon.

Ask about the practical things that decide whether a job works for you. How do you get to the site? Is overtime paid or time off in lieu? Is training or a licence upgrade offered? Who would you report to? A good recruiter answers plainly, and if they cannot, that tells you something. You are never obliged to continue, and a no costs you nothing.

Moving up from operator to technician to supervisor

Many skilled workers want the next step rather than the same job somewhere else. Your task ratings help here. If you rate yourself on tasks that sit one level above your current title, such as reading drawings, training new starters or planning a shift, recruiters will see the profile of a person ready to move up.

Add the training and certificates you have, and say plainly that you want a step up in responsibility. Roles that mention a ladder, such as operator to technician to supervisor, are worth asking about at interview. Ask what training is offered and what the usual route looks like.

FAQ

Do I need a CV to use VVeRecruit?

No. You can complete the profile on your phone by entering your trade, licences and the tasks you do. A CV helps if you have one, but the task ratings and certificates carry most of the weight for skilled roles.

Is there a fee for job seekers?

No. It is free to create a profile, be matched and accept a job. The employer pays when you join. Do not pay anyone for a job, whether on the platform or outside it.

Can I look for a job while I am still working?

Yes. Switch on OPEN2WORK and only recruiters working a role that fits you can see you are open. Your name is masked from employers until an interview is scheduled, and no company can browse candidate profiles.

Which licences do I need to list?

List every relevant licence, ticket and certificate, such as driving class, forklift, welding, electrical or safety cards, with expiry dates. Requirements differ by country and by employer, so what counts as valid in one place may not in another.

Do you list warehouse, driver and technician jobs?

Yes, in the countries where we run a jobs portal: India, the USA, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UAE. What is open at any time depends on employers posting, so check your country page.

How soon will someone contact me?

It depends on the roles open in your area and trade, and on how complete your profile is. We cannot promise a timeline. Keeping licences, shifts and location accurate helps recruiters place you quickly.
