Jobs in New Zealand: find work across Aotearoa
Browse trades, healthcare, tech, hospitality and office vacancies in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and the regions. Searching and applying are free, and your details stay private until an interview is booked.
How job search works in Aotearoa New Zealand
Choose a city or a role and read what the job asks of you before applying. Every role is broken into plain tasks, for example "wire a switchboard" or "welcome guests at reception", and you rate your own experience against them. If your CV is short but your hands-on skills are strong, that comparison shows what you can do.
Employers do not see your name or contact details until an interview is booked. You are never charged for any part of finding work, and no recruiter on the platform may charge you.
Which New Zealand cities can you search?
Each city page lists its current vacancies. Many New Zealand employers hire regionally, so check the smaller centres too.
Auckland is the largest job market, Wellington is the base for government and policy work, and Christchurch has a strong building and engineering sector. Try electrician jobs in Christchurch, nursing jobs in Wellington or software engineer jobs in Auckland to see how the pages work.
Popular New Zealand roles, in local names
New Zealand job titles follow their own wording. A school "teaching assistant" is a "teacher aide", and an office job is often an "administration officer". We use the local names so your search matches the advert.
Trades, care and nursing, and technology are the fields we expect most New Zealand searches to start from. Anything else is in the roles directory, which gives every role its own New Zealand page.
New Zealand jobs by industry
If you know the sector but not the title, start here.
The industries directory shows the full list. Farm and horticulture work is part of the picture too, particularly in regions such as Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Canterbury, and those roles appear under the labour and general work pages when employers list them.
Part-time, remote and apprenticeship jobs in New Zealand
Sometimes the way you want to work matters more than the job title. These pages cut across every role.
Listings are employee jobs with a company, full-time or part-time. Freelance and gig work is not part of the board. For roles you can do from your own place, open work from home jobs or remote jobs.
Starting out: apprentices, students and graduates
A New Zealand apprenticeship lets you earn while you train in a trade. Students can search part-time jobs that fit around study and internships that give real work experience. If you have just graduated, the entry-level page lists roles that ask for little or no experience, and the trainee page suits people changing fields.
To browse by seniority, from executive to manager and head of department, use the designations page.

New Zealand job-hunting terms, explained
- CV
- What New Zealand employers call the document listing your work history.
- KiwiSaver
- The workplace retirement savings scheme. Employers contribute on top of your pay, so ask how a quoted salary treats it.
- Annual leave
- Paid holiday you earn while employed. Entitlements are set in your employment agreement.
- IRD and PAYE
- Your IRD number identifies you for tax, and PAYE is the tax your employer deducts from each pay.
- Trades and services
- The label many New Zealand listings use for hands-on work such as building, repair and maintenance.
- Work visa
- Needed if you are not a citizen or resident. Some employers are accredited to hire migrants, and listings say when they are.
Questions about jobs in New Zealand
Is VVeRecruit free for job seekers in New Zealand?
Yes. Searching, applying and building a profile cost nothing. It is illegal for an employer to charge a worker for a job, and no recruiter on VVeRecruit may charge you either. Employers are the only side that pays.
Do I need a CV?
Add one if you have it. Your profile also lets you rate yourself against each role's daily tasks, so you can show practical skills that a short CV does not capture.
Can I work in New Zealand if I live overseas?
You need a visa or the right to work in the country. Employers with the right accreditation can hire migrants on an Accredited Employer Work Visa, and listings say when an employer can. Check current rules on the Immigration New Zealand website before applying.
How do I find a trade apprenticeship?
Start with the apprenticeship page, or open a trade such as electrician, plumber or carpenter and then choose your city.
Who can see my details?
Employers see a masked profile until an interview is arranged. Your name and contact details stay with you until then.
Are jobs outside Auckland included?
Yes. Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Tauranga, Dunedin and the other cities each have a page, and country-wide role pages cover everywhere else.
